Twenty Years Ago…

13 July 1991

A family was born.

On a rainy Saturday morning, in a pretty little church, surrounded by friends and family, we came of our own free will to give ourselves in marriage, to honour each other for the rest of our lives, to lovingly accept children, bringing them up according to the law of Christ and his Church.

In good times and in bad

in sickness and in health

Requesting the honour of your presence...

Wearing a gown that I designed and made. My magnum opus.

Carrying a bouquet of LaMinuet roses and ivy

I married my Prince.

And the two shall become one flesh.

We have had some good examples to follow::

Memere and Pepere Lussier. Great-grandparents to nearly 30 children.

Nana {Wallace} who was married to my Bumpy for nearly 50 years.

Grammie and Grampie Fortin loved to have fun. Didn't they look great?

Grandma and Grandpa Gadbois. Loved a good family game of cards and a jar full of M&Ms.

The Irish consider rain on the wedding day to be a blessing, a foretelling of a family graced with many children.  I prayed that it would be so – and my prayers have been answered.  He and I were the first in our family, but a daughter followed within a year, preparing the way for her brothers and sisters that were – and perhaps still are – to come.

{the music in the sidebar, in honour of our wedding anniversary is “Trumpet Voluntary” by Purcell and “Rondeau” by Mouret.  Both pieces were played by our friend, Jason Adams, on a silver trumpet from the choir loft.  It was a very precious touch to our day, and made me feel like a princess.  Hearing those pieces again *still* makes me feel like a princess.}
