Ten pair of slippers on the needles, to be felted later. I’d a whole lot rather spend a winter day sitting on my sofa, with a cup of tea, children all around, knitting like the wind, than battling crowds and parking lots in the cold.
I’ll probably go out a few days before Christmas to soak up some of that festive atmosphere, but there won’t be any pressure. Just a hot cup of coffee, a few stocking stuffers, and my fella.
My soul rejoices in my God. My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord; my spirit rejoices in God my Savior, for he has looked upon his lowly servant. From this day all generations will call me blessed: the Almighty has done great things for me, and holy is his Name. He has mercy on those who fear him in every generation. He has filled the hungry with good things, and the rich he has sent away empty. He has come to the help of his servant Israel for he has remembered his promise of mercy,
We are going to miss cutting our own tree on the farm this year. All of our spruces were removed this spring to make way for the vegetables. So this year we will be purchasing a Christmas tree at one of the local stands.
Maybe one day we will have some Christmas trees here on the farm once more so that we can experience that special magic again.
We’re off to the USCIS office this morning to have yet another set of fingerprints made for our adoption. What a blessed feast to have been given an appointment for. We feel that the Blessed Mother is especially watching over us and this process. We pray that that is so.
O God, who by the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary, didst prepare a worthy dwelling place for thy Son, we beseech thee that, as by the foreseen death of this, thy Son, thou didst preserve her from all stain, so too thou wouldst permit us, purified through her intercession, to come unto thee. Through the same Lord Jesus Christ, thy Son, who livest and reignest with thee in the unity of the Holy Ghost, God, world without end. Amen.
Lord, let us see your kindness, and grant us your salvation.
I will hear what God proclaims;
the LORD—for he proclaims peace to his people.
Near indeed is his salvation to those who fear him,
glory dwelling in our land.
Kindness and truth shall meet;
justice and peace shall kiss.
Truth shall spring out of the earth,
and justice shall look down from heaven.
The LORD himself will give his benefits;
our land shall yield its increase.
Justice shall walk before him,
and prepare the way of his steps.
