I have been hovering around the same weight for a couple of weeks here. I feel like I need a breakthrough. I need a morning walk, but my walking partner is now commuting early in the morning to a job out near Boston. I have to overcome my mental/emotional attachment to the old ways of doing things. And that actually goes for just about everything – the way I work, the way I eat…
And for the FIRST time in four weeks of this juice fast, I’m hungry. I was famished yesterday. In the middle of the day. What’s up with that? Well, a friend of mine reminded me that when the body is converting fat stores to energy, it can require more ready calories (ironic, eh?). Obviously, if I were doing that mile hike every morning, I’d be hungry. Or possibly something else is up…
Today is the 20th birthday celebration for our oldest daughter – it’s a couple fo weeks late. Her Papa’s ordination came on the day we would otherwise have had her party. So I’ll be having a teensy portion of her lovely dinner – gnocci and cheese, lots of green veg (at her request), homemade peach iced tea, and a lemon pie for dessert.
Tomorrow is going to be difficult for me, foodwise. Brian will be preaching at a Mass of Thanksgiving at our old parish. Afterwards there will be a lovely reception put on by the pastor and the families of the parish. There are sure to be tables laden with lovely baked goods. I will have to practice prudence in choosing what to sample. And I’ll have to make certain I muckle onto a bottle of water rightquick. That will ensure that
A. My hands are occupied, and
B. My tummy is feeling more full.
Just 11 days left to this fast. It hasn’t been so hard. But of course, I haven’t been so strict either. I made it mine, and I account only to myself for making any poor food choices. My body has felt the difference. And felt it more keenly for having been otherwise rested. That is a gift.
How is your fast going?
